a little idea and a little baking...

so back in the spring [or february],
in search of live music on a rare-occasion date night, A2 and i ventured into a little coffee house downtown.

there was an acoustic band playing and the atmosphere was pleasant.
so we sat down to
a cup of joe,
an organic smoothie,
and a crossword puzzle.

[crossword puzzles on a date night???!! you may say--
to which i would reply, yes.]
that's the way we roll.  (=

surrounded by incredible local art and photography i was led to wonder
[though A2 seems to feel that it was his suggestion]
"WHO DOES THEIR BAKING?"

and so the following tuesday, i gave them a ring.
truly.

i spoke about my passion for wholesome baking and nutritious ingredients
pertaining to my family.
and how i've done a [little] blogging about such things.
all at home.
in my kitchen.

the dialogue that followed went something like this:

"can you do vegan?"
"yes of course!"
"meet me here tomorrow at 1."

WHAT????????????

so i spent the evening whipping up my rendition of
vegan raspberry crumble bars,
wrapped them in a sweet little vintage number i had in the pantry,
and set out wed. afternoon for the meeting.

first of all, it was the shortest meeting i have ever experienced----
they had been wanting to switch from using the organic bakery on the other side of town and it was perfect timing.
could i make 2 dozen vegan-organic blueberry muffins,
a dozen of my vegan raspberry crumble bars,
and a dozen [AMAZING] vegan choc. pb crispy bars?

by friday?

yes sir, said i.

to which he replied, ''can you wrap them in something like this?'' [motioning to afore mentioned vintage number]
again a yes,
and i high-tailed it to the market for ingredient speculation and supplies.

a few [thousand] internet searches later
i had a conglomeration of recipes from which i picked/chose ingredients and methods,
sought out substitutions and,
using the perfect amount of ideas, additions, and changes of my own [to keep things completely original]
on thursday night i baked up a storm of 4 batches of yumminess!!!!!

and they WERE amazingly yummy!  (=

it was a resounding 'YES!' and i was in.
that was it.

i have been baking for them ever since.
[my goodies are even being requested when they run out!]

want to hear what i am calling homemade goodness?
stop back by later this week.

enjoy!  (=

we are young

it was probably around january[-ish] that A2 comes into the living room with his laptop and this:

yes.  you have heard it.
and it may be overplayed [i wouldn't know, we only hear of these things via A2 and his ever-indulgent search for the eclectic]

anyway, it is BEAUTIFUL.
i think the 'trio and i played and replayed it possibly [42?] a lot.

is this something only i do or are you the same:
when i hear them singing 'so if by the time, the bar closes, and you feel like falling down.
i'll carry, you home,
toniiiiiiiiiight'

[and this is about as explicit as we get, so don't become concerned.  95.2% of the time we are listening to worship music.  well-rounded right?]

so not so much the words, but the fact that they are singing it in perfect pitch.
with all the right pauses.
and then beautifully blaring the chorus with or without janelle monae,

this or any song equally as passionate about either youth specifically,
or that somehow transports you back to 6-12th grade and dancing and screaming your current must-have happy/angst song

i don't know about you but i lose it.
every time.
tears.

and at times like a few sundays ago when our [awesome] worship band at church opened services playing this:

and my 'trio goes crazy b/c they have been singing it w/daddy for weeks/months, and they are into it.
right there in the lobby.
full on.  [always full on and i LOVE it]

music is so incredibly moving.
and while A2 is super-cautious about 'over listening' to a song, my lovelies and i run with reckless abandon, and we listen to something like this:

or this:

or this:

over and over and OVER again.
cry.
laugh.
dance.

and they will never forget it.
or the moments spent learning it.

and neither will i.
