after attending the Global Leadership Conference last year, i tweeted this:

my husband {A2} was taken aback.
at first, of course, i took offense to this......
but then he said, "that is a bold move."
at the time, i thought, well,
not really bold.
just real, right?
but lately, this week
last week,
this statement has really sunk in deep.
what if we rephrased it:
a child is not truly great if he/she cannot be great without you.
or
a home is not truly great if it cannot be great without you.
there are so many impositions to place within this framework.
and it is tearing at my soul.
what are we doing as parents?
as spouses?
as homemakers? businesswomen?
as a mom.
am i raising my children to daily depend on and thrive within a system i have created, and to bend and flex when and where i see fit?
or am i raising them to depend on THE ONE who is the only one Who will never truly leave them.
can they wake up and KNOW that He is in control, and not mommy?
that mommy lives every moment in anticipation for His Will, and in turn acts accordingly?
what does it look like to have a home that is TRULY great?
our home is GREAT--beautiful.
fun,
joyful,
up and down and all over the place sometimes,
but it is a haven of love.
and a source of forever-ness.
but what are we teaching those around us?
our little ones,
our spouses,
our co-workers?
like the statement: 'don't just give them fish, but teach them HOW to fish'
i feel like this is a huge shift in the ways we can view our lives.
