today he was my taster...

okay, i am a HUGE kitchen-expiramentor! so i am constantly (like 2-3 times a day constantly) calling from our [tiny] kitchen for someone to come and taste this or that....and my husband, A2, for some reason or another, has decided that he is NOT going to be that someone. i have concluded that he is doing this purely out of the stubbornness that he doesn't like to be 'told' what to do, which also happens to be something that i would sincerely refuse to do anyway (we are very compatible that way). needless to say, however, he will not taste anything. not even my amAzing chocolate brownie waffles the other day, not even my from-scratch vanilla buttercream icing i usually make once every few months (and on special occasions), not even my spaghetti sauce i re-make-up every time we have spaghetti. now, he will definitely devour and love every bit of what i have made when it is the called-for time to eat it, but not when it is being prepared, or possibly in need of being scrutinized.
this has been a major area of conflict for us in our nearly five years of marriage----obviously, we don't have a large amount of conflict.
so, since he has taken this stand--and adamantly so-- i have turned to our A as my constant taster. and she will taste ANYTHING! and revels in every moment of it. AND, b/c of this, she has developed quite a palate for an eight year old. i rely on her opinion for a great lot of my culinary concoctions...
the entire point of bringing up this ridiculous fact is that, a few nights ago, i spur-of-the-moment ordered a mandarin tea and LOVED it immediately. and, of course, w/o delay, i looked to A2 and said, ''taste this!'' to which he, without hesitation, leaned over and took a sip! watching his eyes the entire time, i knew it had taken every fiber of his beautiful being to make this move. but, despite all, he had done it. and i love him for it. and i was reminded a little more how much he too loves me----b/c that day, he was my taster.
enjoy! (=
